National Air Monitoring Programme (NAMP) is a nation-wide programme of ambient air quality monitoring, being executed by Central Pollution Control Board. The network consists of 683 operating stations covering 300 cities/towns in 29 states and 6 Union Territories of the country. Under NAMP, the air quality monitoring is collaboratively carried out by Central Pollution Control Board, State Pollution Control Boards, Pollution Control Committees, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur. CPCB ensures uniformity, consistency of air quality data and provides technical and financial support to its collaborating agencies for operating the monitoring stations.
