In Mizoram, NGC programme was initiated in the year, 2002-03 with Mizoram Pollution Control Board as the Nodal Agency. Member Secretary, MPCB is the Nodal Officer of NGC, Mizoram. There are 1890 eco clubs functioning in various schools in all the districts of Mizoram. During the year, 2017-18 the Programme has been extended to colleges. There are 23 nos. of colleges eco-clubs established in Mizoram today.
Each eco-club receives annual fund of Rs.5,000/- from the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change which is disbursed through bank account transfer.
The eco club members are actively carrying out various environmental related activities for the protection of the environment. The State Nodal Agency, in collaboration of the ENVIS Hub prepares and distributes Annual Activities Calendar to all the eco-clubs.
