Vide Notification No. G.S.R. 826(E) dt. 16.11.2009, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Govt. of India has notified the Revised National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) by amending the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986, Rules. The revised national standard aims to provide uniform air quality for all, irrespective of land use pattern, across the country. There are 12 identified health based parameters with methods of measurements. The new parameters included  are  particulate matter size less than 2.5 µm, that is, PM2.5, Ozone,  ammonia (NH3), Benzene , Benzo(a)pyrene(BaP) , Arsenic (As) and Nickel (Ni ).
